Drought Meeting - Media Coverage -
Feb 20th, 08, 09:58 AM
This date was initially set as a PWNC meeting. Since that time, there has been conflicting media coverage and slightly badly worded broadcasts and publications regarding the circumstances in areas.
This meeting, although arranged by PWNC associates, is NOT about the PWNC anymore. It's about changing how the media, government officials, the public in general view what we do, how we do it and most importantly, that we still CAN perform services. The PWNC has contacted our state news channel who has indicated that they would like to be at the meeting. We have also obtained sponsorship for the lunch. It is vitally important to attend this meeting if you want to help. The date is Saturday, March 1st at 1:00. We will be announcing the location within the next couple of days. There are pre-registration forms located both on the PWNC site as well as on Contractor Events. We also want to encourage everyone who is interested in this meeting, or participating with the PWNC, to please go to the PWNC site and sign up for the newsletter. Over the coming months, as restrictions change and the season gets closer, this will be a very good way to keep up. It is a goal of the PWNC to stay on top of situations as they happen and keep you informed. Thank you. |

Saturday's meeting will be held at Xterior in Raleigh, NC. We need a head count for food at this event so PLEASE, use the registrations forms available on the PWNC site or on the Contractor Events site.
Please bring your rigs! We are working on a contest to make this a little more fun but it is important that we project the image that we all work so hard for - that we are a profession that offers much to a community and not a bunch of hacks that can't cut it in their version of the "real world". We look forward to meeting many of you there! |

"Wow" is one of the words that would come to mind - I've attended a number of meetings/round tables/events in our time but I don't think I have ever been to one like yesterday's.
We had about 35 folks, including 3 distributors. The News & Observer was in attendance and our story is out this morning: Power Washers Bash Water Rules As usual things read a little differently than they are but we finally were heard with the media. And yes, we will be getting in front of them again before the end of the month. This is a very motivated network of contractors! Although the actual footage that was on our statewide news last night has yet to be on the TV's webpage. I hope to see it up soon so that links can be posted. I did get to see the first broadcast at 6:30 pm, before I fell asleep from sheer exhaustion I've aso received emails from other pwers in our area who saw us on Channels who did not even cover the event! We covered a number of issues at the meeting, from basic things we can do (and do now) to conserve water, facets of cleaning that can never be halted. We impressed upon all attendees that we are vital part of our communities - WE ARE NOT A DISPOSABLE INDUSTRY is my mantra at present. We further discussed what we as a group can accomplish (check the site later as I will be adding dozens of companies today!) We talked about graffiti statistics and things we can do as a group to increase OUR education on this growing problem. We ARE a part of the solution to this. Pete provided numbers on how little oil it takes in run-off to contaminate water, emphasizing the need to keep parking lots clean. Mike broke down the math on how much water could be attributed per day to keep one's home clean for two years. (less than a gallon should anyone be curious ) I'm still actually so excited about how well this went that I can't remember everything! Some names and faces familiar to the bbs families were there, including Pete Marentay, who drove up to show his support of our network. Pete got some face time with the camera and drove the point home about the fact that this industry has been implementing methods of conservation for years before a drought crossed the minds of people. Mary & Mike Baker of Xterior hosted the event and participated in the discussions. Mike Cooke (PPC) and David Vicars (A-Plus) drove from Myrtle Beach and John Greene (Camelot) from Charlotte to name a few forum members who came the distance. We will be announcing details of upcoming activities very soon. Anyone wanting to participate with the PWNC, please send an email to info@pwnc.org. |

PWNC,
You should be proud of yourselves. I have read more positive information on these few posts then I have read on various sites and many posts the past month! This is what we as professional business people must be interested in. We need to develop ideas and grow information to help others. You folks are possibley the best group going. I know the others will benefit from the standards you are setting. They will read your posts and get the idea of what a RT is? They may seek your help and working together we all become a better professional organization? Keep up the great work. Keep it professional and keep growing. Thank You.
