Atlanta Roundtable set...... -
Nov 1st, 04, 11:34 AM
There has been scheduled a Rondtable Meeting for the formation and kickoff of the Georgia Chapter of the PWNA.
Invitations are extended to ALL P/W's, vendors, and visitors who frequent this board. Residence in Ga is NOT a requirement. Membership in the PWNA is NOT a requirement. Part timers and full timers are all equally welcome. All vendors welcome. We are planning to discuss several things including the PWNA on the national, regional, state, and local level and how it affects you. Also on the plate for discussion are basic safety items and basic chemical safety info. (in other words, how NOT to blow yourself up or otherwise kill yourself or cause catastrophic damage in general terms) Februrary 5th (Saturday) is the target date so as to accomodate as many as possible without affecting the workweek, but that can be changed if need be. We plan this to be a 1/2 day event, but if things are going great and we have a good crowd it could go on as long as we like. There will be Vendor booth space available for any vendor that wishes to sponsor part of this event. Becasue this is a first time event for the newly formed chapter and becasue we want to encourage participation from vendors, sponsorship rates are VERY low and easily affordable. Vendors who are interested in attending should contact me to reserve a space. shoot me an e-mail at pamncujo@earthlink.net or call me on the cell to set everything up. Just like the looming Presidential elections, your voice matters. Excersise it and participate. Cujo Expecting Perfection, Tolerating Excellence "Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. This event is for EVERYONE !!
While veterans will get alot from this meeting we expect that newbies more than anyone will come away with a truckload of useful, accurate, and profitable information. We want YOU to be there.. It is not necessarily a training seminar insofar as to train you on specific washing techniques nor is it necessarily a seminar on brand names or specific mixes. Ther are far too many variables, liabilities, and quite frankly, products available to adequately cover specifics in such a short amount of time. It is likely that such questions may arise and perhaps be addressed in a less formal area or in the later part of the day, but it is not our focus for this meeting. Later meetings may have more specific themes, but for now we just want to get everyone involved and on the same page, as it were. That said, paid sponsor/vendors will have a place made available to discuss specific products, mixes, and techniques that they deem suitable to their businesses and clients. It IS a meeting to introduce contractors from the Ga. area and beyond to the world of Professional Powerwashing, the PWNA, and how we all need each other to survive. A few more specifics, features, and benefits of this meeting...

Paul,
Thanks for your input. I was unaware of the Deck Expo. We are certainly early enough to make schedule adjustments and will give due regard to your request. We want to accomodate as many as possible and make it easy to get a big crowd. C'mon folks..let's do this...!!!! Expecting Perfection, Tolerating Excellence "Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. These round tables are a great opportunity for learning and networking. If you are in the Atlanta area, or don't mind the travel, we encourage you to attend.

Hi James,
I just stain the wood for my deck builder. He is all excited about becoming a distributor for this line of wood. The first sample I gave him stained he sold the job to the customer 2 hours later. He is selling the cambara to customers who he use to sell the ipe. The cambara is about a third cheaper per sq foot. On his "cheaper" decks he is using the PT Alpine line that has been wolmanized. Beautiful wood. All I do is go apply stain after the deck is complete - an no rain. His min deck price is 10K. I stained one deck this summer where the deck cost 42K. I can't say how fortunate I am to be working with him. Maybe another post I could describe the process on how the whole of working relationship came about. Our first conversation, he would hardly give me the time of day. Needless to say my whole business has turned to nothing but wood and will be hiring come spring time. I just hope I can keep up until then. Paul |

Thats great I have a net work of people that refer my service. What did you use on the cambara. This wood has to be serviced every year its a must. If you do it for a couple of years you might skip a year. I did a deck yesterday that cost 40k (IPE). This week is the last week for decks. Nothing like cleaning and brighting a deck and then have a billion oak leaves fall. Its pretty artistic I charge more for this service....LOL

Hey James, have you got any photos of cambara you can post in the wood area? Maybe one close up of the grain? I know folks would love to see it.

James,
OOps. Alpine??. Must be his brother. The PT is called Durapine. That is what is great about this product. No cleaning and brightening. Just apply stain when new. We have been using Penofin for hardwoods. The great thing is even Penofin rec. another coat after the first 6 months, then less over time. The customer has no problem with this. We are testing one cambara deck with Readyseal. This is my current choice of stain. I am also working with someone on a custom color for the cambara to look like the ipe - still a stain. I just have to buy 300 gallons. Paul |
