Here is another picture of someone using a PVC Wand with a Ball Valve. You can tell it is an old picture, because of that walkie talkie on the mans side. Wonder what THIS PVC Wand and Ball Valve combo is called ![]() It sure sprays good! OMG, did you see that HUGE Hose ? Gotta LOVE that pattern too. Credit for this picture goes to Mallard Systems. The PVC Wand has been around a long time. I came from Delco, and there were versions of it going around years ago. What I think is novel about the Phelps Wand is the swivel on the bottom. Angling the nozzle can have some advantages on tile roofs. I swear, I used a home depot swivel shower head adjustable metal wand once, LOL It did not last long, but the angled shower head pattern cleaned the roof tiles fast. As you know, I don't work much anymore, I have trained employees for that. I sell jobs, and drive around seeking work. But when I work, I LIKE to "play". I once used a Home Depot Shower head to spray with. Your flexible wand looks interesting. Oh, BTW, Don does give you credit for finding the swivel that goes on the end of the wand. Can we call that the "Everett Equalizer" ?? http://www.brandonsingles.com/brandonoutreach.html http://www.saferoofcleaning.com Roof Cleaning in Hillsborough County, Pinellas County, Pasco County, Polk County, Manatee County, FL. 800 293 1377 http://roof-cleaning-institute.activeboard.com/ |

Apartment Complex We were dropping them out of lifts, on to air conditioners etc. Dropped a walkie talkie 3 stories too, now that I think about it. Took me forever to find the batteries and battery cover. Watched a frog commit suicide by jumping 3 stories onto a a/c unit as well. Much cheaper to replace the ball valves than the guns for us. For those that prefer to use a wand. Here's the parts list/pics. Yep, it started on TCN in '04 when I hosted a roundtable. People saw it there and pics were posted online, then it kinda grew a life of it's own. I think Rick Goodwin coined the term initially (maybe Squirtgun...I don't remember). I got the idea from a guy who cleaned our roof back in 2000 before we were cleaning roofs ourselves. As you remember, you showed me the swiveled sprinkler elbow setup when we did the Apartment Complex job in the fall of '05. Big Pete used a variation with a 45* elbow on the end, I believe. I don't think anyone "invented" it. Its' many variations have been around for years. I'll let you know if I hear anything else about the West Palm Beach commercial roof cleaning gig. LOL! ![]() Yeah, if I was dropping them off of tall buildings (and I'm sure I would) I would use $2 ball valves over $30 guns all day. For the dinky resi jobs that I do the ease of instant on/off that a gun provides is convenient. Plus I like to make laser sounds while I'm shooting it. |
