I have done a few roofs now and I am very unsatisfied with my equipment. I would like to be able to shoot a Tile roof from the ground like most of you are doing and I do not know what I need to get. I am returning my old set up and would love some suggestions as what I need to buy (entire set up). I would like to have the some thing very reliable so please suggest what is best even if it is not what you are using. Also links for where to get these items would be great as well.
Thanks in Advance for all the help.

Use the search feature here and start reading. The best thing about searching through old posts is you'll learn even more than what you're looking for. But to answer quickly, Diaphragm pumps (gas or air driven),... roller pumps, gas engine driven or Delevan or Shur-Flo electric driven. For a turn key set-up some on here seem to like the Bleach Bandit roller pump set-up.

What's your current equipment? Maybe some tweaks can make it work the way you want.
Please fill in your signature, most of us here like to know who we're talking to.

The Comet Pump is NOT "Chlorine Proof"
I think David from Reef had one, he now has a Udor.
The glass filled Poly manifolds LEAK all over the place.
MY advice ?
Get a Delevan 5800 12 volt pump and a Titan Hose Reel.
Used 5/8 hose, NOT 1/2, and certainly not 3/8 hose.
Keep a spare Delevan for back up.
Rinse it all out good when done cleaning.
You can use a Phelps Wand if you like a wand, or you can get a spray gun and the Delevan 5800 from Bob at Pressure Tek in Ohio.
Someone bought one of these, and they would not fix it under warranty.'
Said it had been "mis used and mis treated"
You can get a Delevan 5800 and everything for FAR less, even with a back up pump.

Thanks for the info Chris. I will contact Bob about a set-up. Which is best for spraying from the ground, a wand or gun?

I took the ball valve off of my Don Juand and put a Bob gun on it.
With the right tips you can shoot steep one stories with ease.

Since your "Don Juand" was free + my shipping costs, send back the ball valve if you don't know how to use it..... | | TGS Platinum Member | | Posts: 2,702 Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Tampa, Florida Offline | | |

The Phelps wand is a wonderful invention. I however no longer use it. Since I have upgraded to the John Blue It serves no more purpose for me. I will let you guys in on a lil secret, I use a stainless steel short flexible wand it allows more flexibility (no pun intended)

I asked Don about it once, and I think he said YOU, or maybe it was Big Pete that actually invented it.
I am just curious.
We use a ball valve with a quick change spray nozzle

Plus, I like having a trigger gun so I can play "Captain Comet- Roof Algae Destroyer" and blast the evil Gleo aliens.
What is your address?
BTW, there was no difference in distance between a ball valve or gun. And I noticed that the gun/wand that comes with a Delevan setup from Bob is the same as mine except for the articulating tip, which is VERY handy.
