It may be sap.
I would try and hit it with Apple Sauce first Making "Apple Sauce" Roof Cleaning Mixture The TSP in the Apple Sauce may do the trick. For maximum cleaning effectiveness of Apple Sauce, wait until on site, or on the way to the job to mix the Borax in. If the Apple Sauce don't clean it after a few sprays, then here is step two. Add a LITTLE Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide to the mixture, about 2 to 3 percent. We have found the addition of a SMALL amount of Sodium Hydroxide to the mixture useful for very stubborn stains. Remember, ALL Sodium Hypochlorite contains some Sodium Hydroxide. The KEY here is moderation, a little can be good for impossible stains, and a lot is definitely bad. Be sure and allow 15 to 20 minutes dwell time, and re spray if need be. I have had to re spray up to 5 times to clean really tough stuff. http://www.brandonsingles.com/brandonoutreach.html http://www.saferoofcleaning.com Roof Cleaning in Hillsborough County, Pinellas County, Pasco County, Polk County, Manatee County, FL. 800 293 1377 Cleaning Forum Roof Cleaning Training |

You may need to also get up close and take a look at it. Sometimes a little up close investigation can reveal a simple answer. Maybe not always the answer you're hoping for though. If you already did this disregard my post.
