Wisconsin roof cleaning - Jul 6th, 08, 02:41 PM

I currently operate a home improvemnt company that does re roofs, siding etc. I have been rersearching the roof cleaning business and am greatly assisted by this site.
Here's my question that doesn't seem to have any post info.

I need to keep the labor to a minimum and do not have the manpower to have two people on most jobs. All the cleaning solutions I review have some type of chlorine/ bleach mixuer. Is there a product out there that may require roof rinsing but will not require additional people to rinse bushes, grass, etc.

This is something that is new to this area and if we have any damage to landscaping it will really reduce any referaals that we are sriving for not to mention repalcement costs.

Thanks for any info.

Steve

Sodium hypochlorite is the most accepted way of doing this work. Not really that hard to do by yourself as long as the houses have gutters on them. If the gutter runs into the flower bed or grass just bag them with heavy duty garbage bags, and keep run off to a minimum. Just easier with two guys is all, but it can still be done by yourself. In an ideal world everything would be perfect,... but we don't live in an ideal world!!

You can use a per-carbonate cleaner like Restore. It will work in killing the mold and mildew on the roof without killing the plants. It is not as aggressive as the SH and may require additional applications but is much safer on surrounding vegetation. You can also use some cleaner with the roof as well.
