Roof Covered in Lichen & Moss -
Jul 11th, 08, 10:50 AM
Hey all,
I went to a roof estimate yesterday and half of the home owners roof was covered in Lichen and Moss. His theory of why the back of the house is covered all over and the front does not have a spec is because he had a tree cut down and the saw dust landed on that side of the roof. Can anyone confirm this? Anyway, his roof shingles are black and he is aware that when he moss and lichen is removed it will take some of the "sand or pebble" material off of the shingles. My question is since the shingles are already black will it really be noticeable at all? I have done some lichen and moss removal from gray shingled roofs and you can definitely tell where the "sandy" material was taken off. Should I encourage him to get a partial roof replacement or should cleaning this roof be adequate. I don't see myself being able to walk this roof easily either. I know a picture would help but I unfortunately dont have one.. Precise Pressure Cleaning Lindenhurst, NY 11757 631-742-6152 PrecisePressureCleaning@gmail.com |

Here is what I would do.
A steep roof is gonna be MURDER to clean anyway, much less with lichens and moss !!! Here is what you do, take the easy money. Tell him you are a KILLER, wanted in all states for the pre meditated MURDER of Lichens and Moss ![]() Propse to KILL the crap growing on his roof, and let GOd remove it over time with rain. You need only spray the roof, and come back in another 30 days, and re spray. THIS is what I would do, because the pressure necessary to remove that stuff on a steep roof will ruin his roof. Play Football, run the west coast offense on him, take what is THERE. KILL the stuff, and walk away, that is the advice I have for you. http://www.brandonsingles.com/brandonoutreach.html http://www.saferoofcleaning.com Roof Cleaning in Hillsborough County, Pinellas County, Pasco County, Polk County, Manatee County, FL. 800 293 1377 Cleaning Forum Roof Cleaning Training |
