Vinyl Garden Hose - For Roof Cleaning ?? - Jul 24th, 08, 03:36 PM

We don't use it anymore, but we Have.
The DAY the Mean Green Hose bubbled and quit, our guys drove to a dollar store, spent 20 bucks for some 100 ft 5/8 Vinyl Garden hoses, connected them together, hooked em up, finished the job!
Hey, WHATEVER it takes
Vinyl IS resistant to many chemicals, as this chart will show.
http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/chemical-resistance-vinyl-ester-d_785.html
Scroll on down, and see for yourself.
The PROBLEM with Garden Hose, is Pressure Rating.
Those with Bandits, or any other pump developing over 100 psi might want to think twice before using garden hose.
UNLESS a Vinyl Garden Hose is found with a higher pressure rating ?

I also think it is unprofessional looking, but IF you are short of money, and just starting out, OR in a pinch, it CAN be used.
I HAVE used it, in the past.
I would be interested in any comments, pro OR Con, from those who use, or have used it ?

I've used it before Chris, works fine and never had one break. Just never found one that didn't want to kink up. But other than that..... And as far as looking professional, the only ones who usually notice these things are others who may be in business and are "aware". Most customers couldn't give a damn!!

Yeah, you are correct.
I have HAD the "Shiny, Pretty Rigs"
Pretty soon, they start looking used.
I have never ONCE had a customer "complain" about our equipment or trucks.
ALL they care about is a good job.
Ditto on the kinking of the Garden Hose.
But in a pince, or just starting off, and low on Money, it will work.
I just wanted everyone to KNOW that.
I think we can overcomplicate stuff, and intimidate the newbies ?
Garden Hose and a Delavan 5850 pump with a small tank full of Apple Sauce or Apple Cider, and ya be good to go!

I think what some get irritated about is looking "professional" and spending a ton of money doing so, only to have a guy with not so fancy equipment roll in and get jobs that the "professionals" think they should be getting because they have an "official " pump and 'official " hose and whatever else.
Acting professional and doing professional work is what matters at the end of the day!!

In 15 years doing this, I have learned it is how much work you do, NOT how bright and shiny your equipment is.
Just like Fishing, you see all the fancy, name brand boats get outfished by jonboats.
It is the SKILL of the operator that counts.
