I rarely take pictures anymore, just lazy about it I guess. I think it's because I have quite a few now and they seem to make the sales I need to keep going, and more would just be overkill I think. But pictures are definitely the best selling tool I have. You could describe how the potential customers roof will look or you could just show them and sell the job instantly. Test spots are another way of getting the customer VERY interested in what you can do. I always give the cost after I show the pictures or after the test spot,...should actually be termed a "demonstration".

It won't turn into a war on this BBS. There are several different ways to clean roofs. Just like there are different ways to prep wood theres is an industry way and there are Cowboys out there who think they can change the way things are done. There are many different opinions on the way things should be done and there are industry PROVEN WAYS that things are done the right way. Everyone thinks they have some multi-million dollar way of doing things or some money making new formula but most experienced roof or woodies knows what works and what does not work. Dan if your new roof cleaning formula works for you and gets you more business and makes you a million dollars that is awesome. I will tell you this I have tried many variations of roof cleaning formulas and I have what I think is the best for my business and Chris has what he thinks is his formula and NOW you have invented the wheel and that is awesome but MOST experienced FLORIDA roof Cleaners know what works and what does not.

Let's clear this up....AGAIN. If any mod or admin edits a thread, IT SHOWS UP. If, however the original poster of the comment changes their text from their original post within a certain period of time, IT DOES NOT. So....a person can post, save the post, the subscription notice can be sent, then the original poster can go in and edit their post, and it will not show up if it is done within a certain time frame. THAT is how it works. End of story, and stop accusing the TGS staff of doing things they didn't do. You should know better. You were a mod not that long ago yourself.

Thank you for being the level headed one trying to keep a productive thread going here and staying out of the melee.

Let me share something with the rest of you that I have experienced and see if it provides any insights...
There are times when I make a post and come back at the end of the day and can't find the thread I thought it was in because sometimes there are similar threads going on. I have had to ask Beth if she remembers which one it was after checking in different forums to no avail.

Granted I am a bit tired after a long day working but still it happens and sometimes it looks like something is edited, gone or never happened but yet after some more searching it is finally found and I can follow the posting from there.

What I am trying to say is that with all the bickering threads of late it would be very difficult to keep them in sorted out and perhaps this is what is going on.

Finally, I am going to make one further point that all have probably heard before but it is no less valid regardless: If it doesn't have a positive impact on your business, it should not be in a post here!

RE-read your posts before clicking the submit button, go advanced to make edits, preview your post and make sure it reflects your business professionally.

This and a couple other threads read like romper room and from a customers perspective, I would rule out anyone posting crap in them as a prospective contractor to work for me. Why? Because if they can't control themselves here then what is the likely hood they will get this way with me personally in my home?

Customers expect to be treated with courtesy and respect in their homes and if someone here cannot show that demeanor consistently here amongst fellow contractors, it is valid to think that that person may get out of line in their home, therefore that person becomes ineligible for consideration.

Just a reminder. Send an email, pm or IM the person(s) to whom you have a problem and keep it off line where it isn't searchable. That way, you don't look like an hot head that can't control themselves in the perception of a prospective customer coming here to look for answers who may have considered you to do some work for them.

Yea, Beth I was speaking about this site. But I will say it does seem to be the roof cleaning crowd, and myself included,..that seems to be the most argumentative. I think the way things have been, anyone new would be a little intimidated by the responses they see others receive here. If I were new here I would probably just stand on the sidelines and try and weed out what I could use, and keep my mouth shut. I've noticed that it seems just a handful of people post here, maybe it's just me,...but that is how it seems. There are probably some good ideas that aren't being divulged from some members simply because they are afraid of getting slammed or made to sound unprofessional.

I agree, and I agree. The roof cleaning forum is fraught with more problems than any of our other forums are. It's a challenge to manage it. We encourage ALL the users here on the forums to use the Report Post button. It is located in each post of each thread on the forums. It it is in the upper right hand corner and is a small red square. Not all the TGS staff gets to every post on here every day. By reporting a post, members ensure that ALL TGS staff are alerted to a particular problem post. How does that work? When you click report post, it will take you to a short form to submit. Once you do this is generates a post in a special Moderator forum as an alert. This Alert thread provides all the TGS staff with the info they need including links to the offending post so it can be responded to. This has helped our volunteer staff tremendously in helping our users.

We want to be clear that we do NOT want ANY TGS user to ever feel intimidated by another member or like they would be bashed if they decided to post. It's so very, very simple....stay professional and courteous as the rules of the forum require and everyone will enjoy the BBS a whole lot more. TGS is a tool, a wonderful too for all to use. Many of us have made friends, networked and shared business with one another. We help each other solve problems each and every day here. But it will only be as good as each of us makes it. All of us have to hold TGS and the members here to the level of professionalism we have come to expect from this forum.

The bickering on the roof forums does need to stop. I would hate to have to ban anyone....we all have something of value to share.

All kidding aside, I think it's probably up to the administrators of the various forums out here in internet land to clean up the roof cleaning forums at this point.

The climate has been bad for quite a while now, but it didn't used to be that way.

Several of us have tarnished and soiled ourselves over the last couple of years.

I suppose time will tell............

WHY did you post in post number 176 of the apartment complex thread "I hear sucking sounds"

This callled attention, in a most negative way, to Jeffs support of my position.

The message I would draw from this, if I were Jeff is 'Everytime I support Chris, or anyone else who is not a friend of yours, I will have a TGS Moderator ridiculing me"

WHO wants to post in THAT environment ?

What IS the point of discussion is a Moderator, in post 176 of the apartment complex thread, accused Jeff of "Sucking up to me"

Yes...and now that you are aware all edited posts will show it, perhaps you will stop accusing others of editing your posts in public, when clearly they have not. Knock it off.

All of you - stay positive, stay on topic, remain professional and things will be better in many ways. Keep your bickering offline. I don't care who is a moderator and who is not. No more. Enough.
