Bad experience with Excel (x-jet knock off)

I have an X-jet on order but had a job that could not wait so I bought an Excel at Home Depot. It had a variable nozzle and a chem flow knob and a VERY short supply hose (9'). No matter what the setting it took forever for the chem to make it up the hose and then the chem in the bucket barely moved after about 15 min. I hung it up and pump sprayed chlorine onto the roof and it came out ok. I hope my X-jet works better than this contraption. I am only pushing 2.5 gpm on a 7hp pw, 2800 rpm.

    Does the x-jet draw faster?

The higher the flow, the better the x-jet will work for you. I'm at 5 gpms and it kicks butt. I'm not sure what I used to do without it. Nick

I may be wrong, or insane, but I believe when you purchase the X-Jet, the seller should ask you what your GPM is so the correct orifice can be installed or something.......I think it is supposed to be a 2:1 ratio.....but like I said, I could be way off.....

No, the ratio varies. The draw with the Xjet, theoretically, is 2.5gpm. If you have a 2.5gpm machine, you're getting a 1:1 draw....if you have a 5gpm machine, you're getting a 2:1 draw, etc.

Yes, you need the proper orifice for your machine. Not sure how the Excel works...apparently not as well.

When I got my x-jet I am pretty sure it came with a ratio chart and depending on the strength of your chemicals you will have to decide what ratio you want to use. There are all those little plastic pieces that you interchange to select what ratio you use... I always use the red one. I had a friend that helped me with a house one time and used my x-jet... He loved it so much he went and bought that x-cell thing from home depot thinking they were the same thing. He borrowed my x-jet last month and I asked about his x-cell thing, he said he threw the worthless piece of crap out. So I've never used it but I dont ever intend on using anything but my x-jet.

it comes with proportioners for the ratios, but when its bought, the seller sends you the proper x-jet for your gpm...that is just what I was told about the thing, I use mine quite often.....as far as the excell thingy from HD or Lowes, no way....I think I have a few things for washers from those places like extra 50 feet of 4000 psi hose (was on sale and couldn't resist) and a couple of general QC's, but none of that excell stuff

That's correct...There's an orifice that goes between the Xjet and the male plug that is sized to your machine...

As for the proportioners, most I know just toss them and prefer to mix the ration in the bucket rather than mess with tiny proportioners.

Keep your X Jets for cleaning houses, and get a real roof cleaning pump.
X Jets suck for cleaning roofs, period.
You would get laughed out Of Florida attempting to clean a roof with an X Jet.
