We started a roof cleaning job at an apartment complex today. There are 16 residential buildings, an office/clubhouse and 12 small amenity buildings such as storage units, a gazebo and several mail rooms.
Attached are a few pics of some of the smaller buildings that we did today. You'll notice how dirty they actually were by looking at the roofs in the background. The 3 story units will start next week. We'll be using an 80 ft. boom lift for those.

10 days or less, weather permitting. Hurricane Wilma might push it back a bit though. Silly women........ | | TGS Platinum Member | | Posts: 1,512 Join Date: Sep 2003 Location: Sylvester,Ga Offline

Hi Don, nice job.I was just wondering if you covered those bushes down below or if you just keep them rinsed.I usually just rinse but it looks like there is alot there to keep up with. Thanks!

Thanks guys!
Hunter,
This is actually a different bid. The other is with the same company, so I think I have a good shot at getting it too.
Jeff,
We covered the plants with tarps. Tile roofs usually require a stronger chem mix and the property manager also requested that we cover any landscaping where there are no gutters. Luckily all the big buildings are guttered and we'll water at the downspouts.

Are you going to try and spray from the boom cage or is that just to help you get to the roof to walk it.

We'll be spraying from the boom on the front side and walking the roof with fall protection on the back side. We did a few more of the smaller buildings yesterday and today and will start on the 3 story buildings on Tues. or Wed. depending on the hurricane and it's side effects.

Don, when you're doing the barrel tile roofs, do you use your housewash mix or do you approach these like any other roof job? Are they sealed?

Tile roofs require a rather aggressive roof mix of anywhere from 60-80% chlorine and the rest is water. These particular tiles aren't sealed, which is good since sealed are usually much more slippery and we'll be walking parts of it 3 floors up. | | Forum Leader | | Posts: 2,980 Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Graham, NC Offline

Much to the dismay of my many pundits, I'll be sporting the harness, lanyard and safety line. Thanks for the reminder though!

Nice tag line in the signature.
I guess it shows the class a PA business person has in their intentions.
