Icy Weather - Jan 14th, 07, 12:59 AM

I hope everyone is enjoying this slick weather we are having this weekend. Here in columbia MO we have between 2-3 inches of sleet on the ground, and now we have gotten a 1/4 inch of ice or more on top of it. The weather for Sunday is up to 1 inch more of ice and 2-5 inches of snow before it quits early Monday. I have my generator ready to go, and several gallons of gas for back up. I have a friend with a skid loader and snow blade, he told me today that it wouldn't touch the ice, just slides along on top of the frozen crust of sleet and ice. Well time to go to bed and let it snow, I me ice!

Robert

Yea ~it's been cold out here in California also. 21 degrees Sat. morning and they are calling for the temp to hit the teens through Monday. Pretty uncommon for even up here in N. Calif.....

Hey Rob,

Here in Sfield 70% are without power....thus far I am lucky! S'posed to get a few " of ice here though tonight....that'll probably knock my electric out. I'm too impatient to sit around w/out power for three days, may head South for a couple days, or I've got a bid to do in NY and I may try and sneak that in. WHY CAN'T WE JUST GET SNOW LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE!!!!! later, jf

Exclamation Check These Pics... - Jan 14th, 07, 02:56 AM

December 29-31 Extreme Ice Storm South Central Nebraska

These pics are from the last ice storm that swept through Western/central/southern Nebraska. You won't believe the damage. These are towns and communities where I hunt every year.

Just devastated.

Keep your heads down, and stay out of trouble down there.

We were out of power yesterday. We went to the hotel where the RT will be and stayed there until about 8PM when I found out our power was on. I wanted to stay, but my 4 month old was so cranky we thought we would come back home to her enviroment. Sure enough, she was out like a light 30 mins after we got home.

She's the boss! Lol

We had an ice storm here in '03. It tore up every tree in the city and had power outages for 3 weeks. We were lucky because our powerlines were buried. One good thing though was that I happen to own $6000 worth of chainsaws and climbing gear. We did very good for 9 weeks of 110 hour weeks cleaning up tree damage. I ended up getting a late start on pressure washing that year.

So guys, if you got skills with a chainsaw, there is opportunity there for you when the ice melts.

Its been brutal around here too. I had to put a coat on over my long sleeve shirt a few day ago. LOL

Be careful, I know ice can be worse than snow any day. Good luck to you all

Looks like we have a 1/4 inch of new ice this morning. That makes the weather forecast right for a change! Things are really closing down here, our church even cancelled all services for today.
I have chainsaws, so if trees do need worked on on the ground that is what I will be doing. So far, still have electricty, but the 3rd wave of the storm is suppose to hit later today with more ice. The forecast is now for up to 1 more inch of ice, and for the wind to blow to around 15-25 mph and for it to start gusting late tonight causing problems with power lines and tree limbs. Since I have cable internet, and the lines are up on the light poles, my cable will go with the electricty.

Washing in the 30's sucks. I never thought I would ever be doing that, but the past couple of days has be an eye opener.

We couldn't wash today. My guys got to the location and called me. They said that all of the trucks were covered in ice. Oh well, there goes $700.00!
