Smoke look on Soffit & Facia

I have cleaned a couple of houses this week that have a smoke like looking stain on the soffit & Facia. Have any of you come across this? I tried A degreaser and a gutter cleaner from newagain both where brushed in and only lightened the stain a little. none of the homes had fire (for you wise guys)! My house wash and Chloine have not gotten it off either. Any Suggestions

find out if these people have a burn barrel. I did a job two years ago and couldn't figure out why there was so much smoke staining. I busted my ass on the back of the house and side. I brushed gutter shock on it twice and hot water rinsed it. It took about 90% off. problem was the previous owners were burning TRASH in the back yard. If it were just wood being burned, it wouldn't have been a problem, but plastics really create a mess when they are burned

Or did their furnace back up( interior) black soot everywhere?

I have seen some homes with some pretty tough mildew to get rid of in these areas.

Kory. Are you sure your hypochlorite ratio was high enough? I've had painted vertical trim/fascia looked like soot was mildew that just needed 2% or more.
