    Just want to clarify.

When you are going to re-oil an Ipe deck do you strip the old oil off first or just oil on top of failing oil? I am confused by some of the threads about this. We always strip every deck prior to applying an oil. Is this overkill?

Again, thanks for having such an informative site. It's nice to read about the challenges that some of you have faced and it's nice to see I am not alone.

The first time I do an IPE deck I will usually strip the whole thing and start over since I don't know what went on prior to my work. Then I use Ready seal and put two light coats down. As far as maintenance after, I will use safe wash to get rid of dirt, mildew etc then add one coat of Ready Seal.
