    Thompson's Tinted Wood Protector

Anyone have any experience with this? I was talking with another restoration company about 80 miles from me and they came across this and told me that if you run into this the best thing is a can of gas and a match.

Said the finish turned into a gum like substance and took them forever to get it off. PSI no good either. He said it was like getting gum on the bottom of your shoe.

Thompsons is loaded with parafin (candle wax). A potent stripper and a little heat are needed to remove the product if its fresh.

Yes. I thought I answered that above. A good stripper followed by a semi-hot water wash at 120 degrees will take off newly laid Thompsons. If its old and failing, you usually do not need hot water.

Some of the most difficult decks I've stripped have been done with Tommy. They have added different lines besides the wax and are more difficult to strip.

I did a thompson water-seal ultra last year, homeowner applied with pump sprayer heavy & left it. That stuff was so thick. Hottest sstripper mix & hottest water didnt even touch it, I could hereit laughing at me! I had to sand/grind it off, still a PITA, clogged the paper bad at first. Nasty stuff, especially when way over applied.

Sorry Ken I did see your post. I was answering the post above yours. I think the hot water would be the solution. I believe this is what they were trying to strip Thompson'sŪ WaterSealŪ Advanced Tinted Wood Protector - ThompsonsWaterSeal.com

Thanks all I will pass this on.
